Hewn by time, weather, and water with no intent than to lie where they are. Asymmetry’s playfulness mixes with symmetry’s careful placement. The textures and colors tease the eyes to linger, knowing there is more to see if you pause just a moment more.
And that is how I hold this day that has come to its end. A rock palette quilt bed for the river that can be hard on the bare feet and heart. If I hold the textures and colors, my soul’s soles find the smoothness and cooling sought in the river’s movement and beauty. There is hardness and softness, light and shadows, shades of gray and white. To see those contrasts adds to the awe. To see only those contrasts diminishes the wholeness hewn. I must hold contrast and wholeness both in balance, grace, and gratitude.
I too am the creation of asymmetry’s playfulness upon symmetry’s careful placement. And that, makes me giggle.
