Beauty Scored and Whole

There is nothing innately wrong with anger. Anger, as an emotion, is as valid as love and joy. Anger can stimulate positive change. Anger can be beautiful. Ahhh, the whisper had to agree as I presented my hobbit logic for the anger boiling inside me. The whisper’s pause let me know that despite my articulate and well defended reasoning there was a loophole woven in one huge unavoidable ‘but.’

Always gentle in the teaching, the whisper brought the image of stained glass to my mind and left the rest to me. The beauty of glass shaped and put together to create art. It has always fascinated me and held my heart in awe. The flow of the glass. Yet the glass is hard. Each piece has been scored and broken. Each piece has been scored, broken and laid side by side in an intentional pattern held in the artist’s mind and heart. Side by side the painting is created but it can go nowhere as it is. In truth, as it is, its beauty can cut and cause harm. Each scored and broken piece must be soldered together to create the painting and softness. The soldered threads are as essential as the glass images.

With a smile and a release, the anger quieted. Anger can be beautiful. It too can be as hard and sharp as glass. When offered to the artist of Love, it is scored. It must be broken apart from its original shape. Then, with loving hands, the pieces are soldered. The soldered threads are not scars. The soldered threads become the guides for the eyes to behold the artistry. The soldered threads are the beauty of the scoring and breaking. They are the heart’s affirmation that all is indeed well.  Anger is now transformed into Love’s dance floor. It’s hardness now is fluid. Anger becomes beauty scored and whole.
