Ok, we all know about the turtle and hare race. But sometimes we focus on the outcome and not the journey itself. This little turtle was in full sprint. Granted, a turtle sprint, which according to the human concept of time, wasn’t exactly a sprint. He was moving and no doubt at full sprint as we blocked the road to ensure the safety of his sprint.
Sometimes, the journey can feel like a turtle sprint. Am I moving? Will I get there? What’s that rumbling I hear? Holy moly it’s further than I thought! Seemed like a good idea. What the heck was the Whisper thinking when it said move to the higher side of the road?! In truth, the turtle was simply moving. The dialogue is my own mind’s creation. And so it is in my own every day life as I cross the graveled roads.
Sometimes, we get distracted or whisked away. Sometimes the sprint is not so turtle like and we feel swept away like running full speed down hill. Like the hokey pokey, instead of moving ahead, we put our right foot in and take it out.That’s when you just gotta find your turtle sprint. Raise your arms and shake them out. In fact, shake your whole body, stomp your feet, growl out loud as you shake. Rumi’s dance was a fevered dervish. We shake it all out. Turtle style. And then…..
