It seems life is moving quicker. I missed fall’s grand dance. Yes, patches of yellow and red scattered here and there but I missed the grand parade and finale. Or, so my mind would say. Yes, life seems to move quicker now. More days behind than before. And yet, in the midst of trees readied for winter, two little candles stood silently, young ones amidst their elders.
A favorite and cherished phrase of mine is “I will tend the flame.” For those in despair, challenged, or having a difficult time, it is my promise to soak them in gentle remembrance and light throughout the day. As I sat in the car and smiled at the young candles, I whispered, “I see you.” The whisper came back, “Tending the flame.” Yes, it seems life is moving quicker. Yes, I missed fall’s grand dance. Or maybe, just maybe, I chose not to hurry or grasp that one special outing of color and splendor. Perhaps, as life moves quicker, the script calls for a later entrance to allow you time to tend the flame.
