Two images. Two invitations.
Inhaling a deep breath of gratitude, I paused before entering the office. Slipping here, sliding there I had made it safely to work. A bit shaken I just needed to pause. A raven offered an invitation to look up. The icicles held the sunlight and displayed the Creator’s artistic sculpting. The raven called again. This time the invitation was to look outward. The glistening snow seemed to suspend a snow star to the left and sprinkles of grace to the right.
Amidst the raven’s invitation and the sun’s intimate dance with the ice and snow, the whisper recalled a 1990’s song by Leonard Cohen. The refrain echoed in my heart to see the dance of light…
“Ring the bells that still can ring Forget your perfect offering There is a crack, a crack in everything That’s how the light gets in. That’s how the light gets in. That’s how the light gets in.” ~ Leonard Cohen “Anthem”The key unlocked the door. The turn of the handle cracked opened the door. I pulled on the door widening the crack. And with the song of light I entered singing… Ring the bells…there is a crack…that’s how the light gets in…
