It is known as the Pinwheel galaxy. The light astronomers see today was actually light emitted 21 million years ago. Even the sun’s light we see is 8 minutes old by the time it reaches our now. Visually, we would not know the sun has gone out for 8 minutes. The star light we see at night is hundreds and thousands of years old by the time it enters our now.
To ponder our own light. To think that what we do today, moves forward into the cosmic and life fields and touches all – today and beyond. What I do, what everyone on this earth does will be seen in the future’s now. I smile to think of the old adage about the lasting effect of first impressions.
But the whisper went beyond a sense of individual accountability and responsibility. Perhaps even more profound is the light of friendship. An act of friendship and love given can emit its light beyond the two that shared. The friendship gifted today in my now carries the star dust of friendships old and wise. Such pondering gifts a pause to reflect upon those whose stardust have touched my life. I see you in my now. I see your stardust journey beyond what even you thought you offered. I smile to think how your luminosity is both celestial, heavenly, and sacred in my now, your then, and beyond. Your gifts have touched my heart and each time I pause to give thanks, your light is yet again sent forth. So tonight, when I look up at the stars, I shall smile and return your light – to their then, our now, and to all beyond who will know your smile. Thank you.
Namaste.
