I don’t remember the last time I stayed up to welcome the New Year’s. I don’t remember the last time I made a resolution. Given this is my first New Year’s in Missouri and so many “firsts” to be encountered, I pondered a fitting resolution. The Gulf moon, during the October eclipse, floated in my memory and gifted my resolution.
I shall resolve to be like the moon. I shall rise. I shall set. I shall wax and wane – but only to other’s perceptions. In truth, I will remain full. I will welcome the illumination and clouds that pass in front of me. I shall offer light to those who fear the dark. May my presence and heart fuel love’s hope and create dances of faeries and magic in the hearts of all. May I walk gently upon this earth casting only a reflection of light. I shall resolve to be like the moon. I shall rise. I shall set.
