Preparing to sit in morning meditation I watched the gentle dance of the trees and the bowed clouds mimicking the tree’s bend. And then the whisper, “Why do you look to see if there is wind? Why do you look asking to see what the morning is like? Why do you look through manmade windows to see?”
Bundling up I took a chair not covered with dust and sat outside. My uncovered face and back of my neck said the morning is chilled. My ears said the distant rooster is greeting the sun and the doves are singing. The stilled blinking of my eyes said the air still has dust but not heavy. My toes began to tap as more birds joined and a crow’s morning voice cracked made me chuckle. The swaying trees were not bending in wind they were wiping the sleep from their eyes…waking up. A distant woodpecker was placing his breakfast order.
