Two years ago, this same day, this was the image that caught my eye. The drought offered little nourishment for the earth. Today, where these two flowers, that would not be, offered a kiss of life, almost a foot of snow now rests. There is a Sanskrit chant, Sa Ta Na Ma which translated means from Infinity comes life. From life comes death. From death comes rebirth and back to Infinity. The image and chant held me like the below zero wind chill this morning as I stood outside. I stood looking at the quilt of snow. The cold grabbed my breath. My eyes squinted as the sun painted the blue sky. I smiled to hear the birds singing and watched the pigeons began their circle anticipating their breakfast. Sa Ta Na Ma. Alpha and Omega. Ying and Yang. The Four Noble Truths. The cycle of Life singing softly, all is indeed well. All is.
