First sunrise of spring. The sun has crossed the equator. The sun’s crossing gifts spring to the northern hemisphere and fall to the southern hemisphere. One movement. Two vastly different seasons. Growth and life and the drawing down of life. Longer days and shorter days. More sunlight and the beginning of darker days. One movement births two dances. Maybe that is why Rumi says, “The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you, don’t go back to sleep.”
Sunrise. Spring’s budding trees. Winter’s barren trees. Spring’s light. Fall’s softened hues. “The threshold where two worlds meet.” And the whisper from Rumi, as I stood shivering in winter’s below freezing temperature on this first morn of spring…”You must ask for what you really want. Don’t go back to sleep.” With a shivering bow I whispered back, “May I dance upon the equator without fear.”
The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
