A day when the body is weak and the wind dust too strong for a walk. The need to move calls me to the elliptical. The window barely cracked open invites the howling wind. Facing the picture window the pigeons are tumbling and playing in the wind. The elliptical’s program of strong resistance kicks in and overcomes my body. Suddenly, the wind bellows like crashing waves against the open window. The pigeons and crows begin to caw and coo. The chanting music hurls itself from a sacred slow moving pace to an unexpected almost rock tempo celebrating life. Surrender….. Fast pushing legs. Laughter. Singing. Dismount and bow of thanks. Sometimes life gazes upon you in the most unexpected ways. Sweet mercy….. whispers of grace.
The wind the bow.
The trees the cello.
My ears the strings.
