Oh that the image could capture what I saw and how it startled me so. About to close the curtains and say good night to the day, I felt myself gasp. There was only a sliver moon which barely cast a gentle light upon the backyard. Yet before me, against the black night sky was a brilliant white cloud rushing across the sky. It looked as if it would swallow the mountains and trees it hung so low. I truly expected to see the trees uprooted. How in such darkness, without a moon’s illumination, could a cloud be so luminous itself and rival even the fullest moon in its whiteness?
Last night I wrote to see the fullness of the moon you have to look into the shadow. So few hours later, the shadow night gifted its own light. The shadow is indeed light holding the clarity of the sun. And the whisper as I prayed the image would appear, came from the Tao, “This is the moment of embarking. All auspicious signs are in place.” The nights will always be black. Never again, will they be dark.
