It’s just a plastic cup of ice tea. Not exactly something considered extraordinary. Unless you are driving down a neighborhood street, with wind and dust blowing against a cloudless sun filled sky. And in that “unless” moment you saw in the corner of a yard, a little plastic table, and two little girls. The youngest one jumped up to see a car approaching and started dancing with a handmade sign advertising ice tea for one dollar. Unless you pulled over and heard their squeals as they ran to the table. Unless your heard them tell you how good the ice tea was. Unless you saw how hard they worked to keep all from blowing away in the wind and checked cup after cup to make sure the one chosen was not covered in dust. Unless you handed them three dollars for one cup and seeing their eyes grow huge, you wished you had more cash. Unless you heard the wee one giggle and quickly grab her sign to dance even harder as another car drove down the street. Unless you heard their “thank you’s” yelled over and over as you got back in your car.
It’s just a plastic cup of ice tea. Not exactly something considered extraordinary. Better yet, it was, and is, simply extra ordinary.
